Screen Stain : 我想请您吃饭 (2019)은 안산에 직접 거주하며 진행한 작업의 결과물이다. 안산 다문화 거리에 즐비한 다국적 국기와 언어로 쓰여진 간판에서 영감을 받아 이 작품을 만들었다.(영상 :https://c11.kr/i7lz) 간판은 외부의 것을 내부로 끌어들이는 초대장과 같은 것으로, 최대한 눈에 띄도록 만들어진 화면이라고 생각한다. 그러한 화면은 관찰 대상이되기 쉽지만, 지시 대상, 가령 국기와 언어가 가리키는 대상 외의 것들은 배제될 수 밖에 없다.
나는 최대한 언어와 상징적인 것들을 배제함으로써 좀 더 포용적인 간판, 즉 화면을 만들고자 했다. 그리고 그 안의 얼룩을 통해 단순한 LED 상자가 아닌 화면으로서 작용할 수 있게 했다. 스크린 속의 덩어리라 할 수도 있다. 그리고 그러한 덩어리 혹은 얼룩은 화면에 대한 궁금증과 호기심을 만들어낸다.

Screen Stain: 我想请您吃饭 (2019) is the result of a project I worked on in Ansan, South Korea in 2019. I was inspired by multinational flags and signs written in different languages ​​along Ansan Multicultural Street.(Video : https://c11.kr/i7lz) I consider the signboard like an invitation card that brings things/people from the outside to the inside. And in that way a signboard can play a role as a screen to stand out as much as possible. While such a signboard can easily attract the related target group, the others, for example, those who are not able to understand those flags and language will be inevitably excluded. With this work, I tried to create an inclusive sign, or screen by excluding all the languages and symbolic things as much as possible. By creating, on purpose, stains inside it, this object could operate as a screen, not a simple LED box.
